When buying POS thermal paper, 57mm and 80mm are only the starting point. Real compatibility depends on roll diameter, core size, meterage, paper thickness, and the space inside the printer housing.
North American buyers often use 3 1/8 inch, roughly 79mm wide. Europe, Asia, and the Middle East usually say 80mm. The 57mm size is common for mobile POS, compact receipt printers, and small cash registers. But even if the width is right, a roll with a large outer diameter may not fit.
Print darkness and dust are also common concerns. Printer brands use different printhead heat settings and feed speeds. A low-sensitivity paper may print pale; a high-sensitivity paper needs proper storage. Sample testing by printer model is the safest first step.
Standard receipt roll requirements fit Thermal Paper Rolls Manufacturer. When changing suppliers, buyers should use Request Samples and test the rolls on their own machines.
Common buyer questions:
- Will 80x80mm rolls fit my Epson printer?
- Is 3 1/8 inch the same as 80mm thermal paper?
- What core size do you supply?
- Can you send samples for Clover, Square, or Star printers?
Buying note: asking for the printer model and a photo of the current roll is faster than guessing the size.
